Citizens Oak Ridge

Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

Maybe FOR didn't need to raise $27,285 for its campaign for Crestpointe since the City of Oak Ridge used its resources and mailing list to send its "Report to the Citizens" to lobby for GBT and Crestpointe just 3 days before the election and referendum. Maybe the $10,000 from GBT via Franklin Land Associates of Brentwood might have been enough along with the City's magnificent contribution.

The City, in its zeal to convince the citizenry, does not mention at all the problems other communities have had with GBT, but gives a lopsided endorsement of the company as though the City and GBT are partners.

Isn't governmental subsidy of private enterprise great?

Sincerely,

Virginia M. Jones

Oak Ridge
